The repercussions of the recent global coronavirus pandemic (COVID–19) were evident on a worldwide scale, impacting the health sector, financial industry, and the overall standard of living globally.

The SEED Relief Program was established to aid the less privileged and those most affected by the lockdown and hardships brought about by the pandemic. In line with this mission, we distributed relief items, including food and safety supplies, to destitute families in the Ilaje community of Lagos State.

The event took place on the 20th day of June 2020, during which we successfully provided relief packages for 50 destitute families. Each package included both food and safety supplies.

The food pack per family comprised the following:

• 3kg rice
• 4kg beans
• 5kg of garri
• A pack of 25 seasoning cubes
• 500g salt
• 1L of groundnut oil

The safety pack per family included the following:

• 100 units of hand sanitizer (2 units per family)
• 100 units of face masks (2 units per family)
• 50 units of surface cleaners (1L) (1 unit per family)
• 50 units of Medicated Soap (7 pcs in a unit) (1 unit per family)

Our approach of providing two distinct packs was rooted in the understanding that, while lessening their financial burden, the health of the recipients was equally paramount.
